Men's Swimming and Diving Paul Thomas

Men's Swim/Dive Places 17th in the Nation in the 200 Free Relay

Hope competed during Day 2 of the NCAA Division III Championships on Thursday

The Hope College men's swimming and diving team competed in three of the five events during the morning session of the second day of the NCAA Division III Championships in Indianapolis, Ind. However, the Flying Dutchmen did not advance any qualifiers to the evening finals. 

The 200 freestyle relay team – consisting of juniors Graham Eisenmann (Ozark, Missouri / Ozark) and Christian Hoeksema (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) and sophomores Blake Hetherington (Jackson, Michigan / Lumen Christi) and George Marsh (Bloomfield Hills, Michigan / Birmingham Seaholm) – just missed qualifying for the consolation final. 


The squad combined for a time of 1:21.25 to rank 17
th, one-tenth of a second shy of securing a swim in the evening.

Individually, Eisenmann posted a time of 48.56 in the 100 butterfly prelims to rank 26
th. 

Sophomore Everett Cox (Sugar Land, Texas / Logos Prep) also competed during the morning session, ranking 24
th in the 200 freestyle after going 1:38.94.

Day 3 of the four-day meet at the IU Natatorium with be held on Friday, March 20, with 10 a.m. prelims and 6 p.m. finals. 


The Flying Dutchmen will compete in the 200 medley relay and the 800 freestyle relay. Graham Eisenmann will also race in the 100 breaststroke.
