The Hope men's swimming & diving team lost to Kalamazoo 176-120 on Saturday in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) action.
Freshman Zach Diener of Lake Orion (Lake Orion HS) took first in the 200-yard freestyle with a swim of 1 minute, 45.86 seconds.
The Flying Dutchmen won the 400 freestyle relay as Diener, senior Jake Hunt of Muskegon (Mona Shores HS), junior William Greenlee of Northville (Northville HS) and senior Andrew Larson of Jackson (Jackson HS) clocked a time of 3:15.65.
Hope's 200 medley relay of Hunt, Alexander Perkins, Diener and Larson had a second-place effort of 1:38.91.
Individual runner-ups for Hope were Hunt in 100 backstroke at 55.48 and 100 butterfly at 54.12, Larson in the 50 freestyle at 22.31 and 100 freestyle at 49.14, sophomore Jeff Zita of Holland (Holland Christian HS) in the 100 breaststroke at 1:01.42, sophomore Dunlan MacLean of Grand Rapids (East Grand Rapids HS) in the 1,000 freestyle at 10:43.53, freshman Christian Otteman of Zeeland (Zeeland East HS) in the 200 backstroke at 2:02.25, freshman Jean Luc Miralda of Tegucigalpa, Honduras, in 1-meter diving with 240.35 points and 3-meter diving with a score of 221.7.
