Sophomore Jeff Zita of Holland (Holland Christian HS) posted two top-three performances to lead Hope during the Wheaton (Ill.) Invitational this weekend.
The Flying Dutchmen totaled 497.5 points to finish fourth at the five-team, two-day event. Washington-St. Louis won with 1,031 points.
On Saturday, Zita finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2 minutes, 5.90 seconds. The time was good for NCAA Division III Championship consideration. He was third in the 100 breaststroke on Friday.
Senior Jake Hunt of Muskegon (Mona Shores HS) took third in the 50 freestyle by clocking a time of 21.54 seconds. He placed fourth in the 100 butterfly by going 51.8.
Freshman Zach Diener of Lake Orion (Lake Orion HS) came in third in the 200 freestyle. He had a time of 1:42.60.
Hope clocked a fourth-place time in the 200 freestyle relay as Hunt, Diener, freshman Ryan Johnson of Milford (International Academy) and senior Andrew Larson of Jackson (Jackson HS) went 1:25.53.
The Flying Dutchmen also were fourth in the 400 freestyle relay. Diener, Hunt, Johnson and Larson had a time of 3:07.93.
