The Hope College men's swimming & diving team has two All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association honorees returning as it enters the 2014-15 season.

Coach John Patnott's Flying Dutchmen feature a roster of 29 swimmers and divers. There are three seniors, nine juniors, six sophomores and 11 freshmen.

Hope co-captains are seniors Grant Ludema of Ada, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian HS), and Erick Skaff of Flint, Michigan (Carman-Ainsworth HS).

Patnott is entering his 35th season as Hope's head coach. He has coached 118 All-Americans and had national champions 30 times during his 34-season Hope career. He has also had 41 Academic All-Americans since 1984.

The Flying Dutchmen are counting on two returning All-MIAA performers to help them: junior swimmer Jeff Zita of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS), and sophomore diver Jean-Luc Miralda of Tegucigalpa, Honduras (Honduras American). Miralda is pictured at right.

Hope looks to overcome the departure of two-time All-MIAA swimmer Jake Hunt of Muskegon, Michigan (Mona Shores HS) and All-MIAA swimmer Zach Diener of Lake Orion, Michigan (Lake Orion HS).

The Flying Dutchmen open the 2014-15 season on Oct. 18 when they host the MIAA Relays at Holland Community Aquatic Center.

Hope is looking to challenge reigning MIAA champion Calvin after finishing second for the third time in four seasons in 2013-14. The two teams meet in a dual meet on Jan. 24 at Calvin.

The Flying Dutchmen will have three home dual meets at Kresge Natatorium this season: Oct. 25 vs. Alma, Nov. 8 vs. Kalamazoo and Jan. 16 vs. Albion.

Hope will host the 2015 MIAA Championships on Feb. 11-14 at Holland Community Aquatic Center.

The Flying Dutchmen are aiming to qualify swimmers and divers for the March 18-21 NCAA Division III National Championships in Shenandoah, Texas.
