The Hope College men's swimming and diving team topped Alma 151-63 in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association dual meet on Saturday at Kresge Natatorium.

The Flying Dutchmen won 10 events.

Hope won the 400 medley relay. Sophomore Danny Sullivan of Columbus, Ohio (Upper Arlington HS), freshman Nick Olen of Midland, Michigan (Lyons Township HS, freshman Charlie Emmert of Grand Blanc, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic HS), and junior Samuel Gallmeyer of Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS), combined for a time of 3:49.47.

Senior Christopher Waechter of Ventura, California (Foothill Technology), took first in the 200 freestyle with a swim of 1:52.12.

Freshman Mike Wurster of Indianapolis, Indiana (Brebauf Jesuit Prep), placed first in the 100 backstroke in 57.53.

Junior Jeff Zita of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS), won the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.11.

Junior Nathan Rommel of Overland Park, Kansas (Blue Valley NW), clocked the top effort in the 200 butterfly of 2:07.33.

Junior Trevor Billinghurst of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS), recorded the fastest time in the 50 freestyle at 22.47.

Sophomore Ryan Johnson of Milford, Michigan (International Academy), won the 100 freestyle in 49.65.

Sophomore Trevor Wagoner of Hixson, Tennessee (McCalle HS), finished first in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:20.89.

Sophomore Christian Otteman of Zeeland, Michigan (Zeeland East HS), posted the best effort in the 200 individual medley at 2:06.31.

Hope won the 400 freestyle relay. Freshman Andrew Mitchell of Solo, Ohio (Solon HS), Gallmeyer, sophomore Jonathon Maat of Holland, Michigan (Holland HS), and Johnson went 3:18.84.

The Flying Dutchmen return to action on Saturday, Nov. 1, when they have a dual meet at Olivet. Start time is 1 p.m.
