The Hope College men's swimming & diving team took third place during its first event at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships on Wednesday, Feb. 12.
The four-day meet resumes on Thursday at Calvin College. Preliminaries are at 10 a.m., while the finals are at 5:30 p.m.
The Flying Dutchmen clocked an 800-meter relay time of 6 minutes, 48.79 seconds.
The relay of freshman Zach Diener of Lake Orion (Lake Orion HS), senior Jake Hunt of Muskegon (Mona Shores HS), sophomore Duncan MacLean of Grand Rapids (East Grand Rapids HS) and freshman Ryan Johnson of Milford (International Academy) trailed Calvin's time of 6:45.68 and Albion's time of 6:45.80.
Hope scored 32 points. The Flying Dutchmen are behind Calvin (40) and Albion College (34).
