The Hope College men's swimming & diving team maintained its spot in second place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships during Friday's evening finals.
Coach John Patnott's Flying Dutchmen have 437 points heading into Saturday's final day.

Host Calvin College leads with 544 points. Kalamazoo College (415.5) is third, while Albion College (402) is fourth.

Hope finished second and third in the 100-yard breaststroke as sophomore Jeff Zita of Holland (Holland Christian HS) clocked a swim of 56.43 seconds and senior Alexander Perkins of Brighton (Howell HS) placed third in 56.58.
Senior Jake Hunt of Muskegon (Mona Shores HS) took second in the 100 butterfly. He finished in 50.25. Junior William Greenlee of Northville (Northville HS) came in sixth in the event in 52.21 seconds, while sophomore Nathan Rommel of Overland Park, Kan. (Blue Valley NW HS), tied for seventh at 52.64.
Hope finished third in the 200 medley relay as freshman Christian Otteman of Zeeland (Zeeland East HS), Perkins, freshman Zach Diener of Lake Orion (Lake Orion HS) and senior Andrew Larson of Jackson (Jackson HS) posted a time of 1:33.44.
Diener took third in the 200 freestyle by swimming 1:42.62. Freshman Ryan Johnson of Milford (International Academy) was eighth at 1:45.48.
Otteman placed fifth in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:14.82.
Freshman Danny Sullivan of Columbus, Ohio (Upper Arlington HS), finished seventh in the 100 backstroke by swimming 53.78.
