The Hope College men's swimming & diving team defeated visiting Olivet 123-82 on Saturday at Kresge Natatorium to even its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association record at 1-1.

Senior Duncan MacLean of Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS) clocked the fastest swim in the 50-yard freestyle at 23.43 second and the 100 freestyle at 52.02.

Senior Troy VanPortfliet of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grand Rapids Christian HS) went the fastest in the 500 freestyle with a swim of 5:17.21.

Junior Christian Otteman of Zeeland, Michigan (Zeeland East HS) took first in the 200 freestyle at 1:50.97 and the 100 breaststroke at 1:03.23.

Junior Trevor Wagoner of Hixson, Tennessee (McCalle HS) won the 50 breaststroke in 29.46.

Junior Jean Luc Miralda of Tegucigalpa, Honduras (Honduras American Academy) won 3-meter diving with a total of 264.38.

Junior Ryan Johnson of Milford, Michigan (International Academy) won the 50 butterfly in 28.47.

Junior Danny Sullivan of Columbus, Ohio (Upper Arlington HS) took first in the 200 individual medley at 2:11.50.

Sophomore Kevin Franz of Mundelein, Illinois (Mundelein HS) placed first in 1-meter diving by scoring 260.99 points.

Hope won the 200 medley relay with Sullivan, Otteman, Johnson and sophomore Joseph Watson of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Catholic Central HS) going 1:44.63.

The Flying Dutchmen return to action on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 20-21 at the Wabash, Indiana Invitational.
