Hope Men's Swimming & Diving Wins Two Events, Takes Third At Wabash Invite

Swimmer Christian Otteman and diver Jean Luc Miralda both won events for the Hope College men's swimming & diving team on Saturday during the final day of the Wabash Invitational in Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Otteman won the 400-yard individual medley. The junior from Zeeland, Michigan (Zeeland East HS) clocked a time of 4 minutes, 25.10 seconds.

Miralda took first in 3-meter diving. The junior from Tegucigalpa, Honduras (Honduras American) recorded a score of 481.05 points.

Hope took third with 360 points. The Flying Dutchmen trailed DePauw, Indiana (970.5) and Wabash (675.5).

The Flying Dutchmen also took third in the 400 freestyle relay. Senior Trevor Billinghurst of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS), junior Jonathon Maat of Holland, Michigan (Holland HS), senior Samuel Gallmeyer of Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids) and junior Ryan Johnson of Milford, Michigan (International Academy) had a swim of 3:17.29.

Hope returns to action on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 4-5 at the Wheaton Invitational.
