The Hope College men's swimming & diving team garnered three winning performances during a 181-119 dual meet loss at Albion on Saturday.
Senior Duncan MacLean, pictured, of Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS) posted the top performance in the 500-yard freestyle at 5 minutes, 4.30 seconds.
Junior Christian Otteman of Zeeland, Michigan (Zeeland East HS) took first in the 100 backstroke in 54.74 seconds. He also was runner-up in the 200 backstroke at 2:02.33 on the 200 individual medley at 2:04.30.
Freshman Seth DeWitt of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville HS) won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a swim of 10:31.03.
Junior Jonathon Maat of Holland, Michigan (Holland HS) finished runner-up in the 100 breaststroke at 1:05.17.
Sophomore Charlie Emmert of Grand Blanc, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic HS) placed second in the 200 butterfly at 1:59.65. He also was runner-up in the 100 butterfly at 54.88.
Junior Ryan Johnson of Milford, Michigan (International Academy) recorded a runner-up effort in the 50 freestyle at 22.29. He also was second in the 100 freestyle at 48.79.
Hope finished second in the 200 medley relay. Otteman, Maat, senior Nathan Rommel of Overland Park, Kansas (Blue Valley NW) and senior Trevor Billinghurst of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS) clocked a time of 1:40.65.
The Flying Dutchmen were runner-up in the 200 freestyle relay. Johnson, senior Taylor Hatfield of Coloma, Michigan (St. Joseph HS), senior Samuel Gallmeyer of Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS) and Maat went 1:28.55.
Hope returns to action next weekend at the Grand Valley State University Diving Invitational and a dual meet at Alma.
