Men's Swimming & Diving Opens Season At MIAA Relays

The Hope College men's swimming & diving team placed fifth in the 200-yard breaststroke relay at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Relays on Friday at Calvin.

Junior Josh Meade of Kentwood, Michigan (East Kentwood HS), freshman Timothy Boyce of Rochester, Minnesota (Lourdes), sophomore Dan Clyde of Ann Arbor, Michigan (Huron), and senior Mike Wurster of Indianapolis, Indiana (Brebeuf Jesuit Prep) clocked a time of 2 minutes, 1.95 seconds in the event for the Flying Dutchmen's top performance at the nonscoring meet.

Hope also finished sixth in two events: the 200 breaststroke relay and 1,500 freestyle relay.

Junior Trevor Gras of Zeeland, Michigan (East), senior Charlie Emmert of Grand Blanc, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic), junior Ethan Yau of Chicago, Illinois (College Prep) and junior Jeff Engle of Kalamazoo, Michigan (Home School) posted a sixth-place time of 1:42.85.

 

Engle, sophomore Skylar De La Torre of St. Joseph, Michigan (Stevensville-Lakeshore) and sophomore Seth Costello of Williamston, Michigan (Williamston) went 16:31.35 in the 1,500 freestyle relay.
