Men's Swimming Wraps Up Two-Day Invitational In Fourth Place

The Hope College men's swimming & diving team finished fourth in four events during the final day of the Wheaton Invitational on Saturday near Chicago.

Senior Mike Wurster of Indianapolis, Indiana (Brebeuf Jesuit Prep) and junior Jeff Engle of Kalamazoo, Michigan (Home School) both played a team-best seventh in individual events.

Wurster clocked a 100-backstroke time of 53.98 seconds. Engle went 4:23.66 in the 400 individual medley.

Hope also came in seventh in two relays.

Wurster teamed in the 400 freestyle relay with sophomore Daniel Clyde of Ann Arbor, Michigan (Huron), senior Charlie Emmert of Grand Blanc, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic), and senior Joseph Watson of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Catholic Central) for a time of 3:13.70.

The 400 medley relay of Clyde, Wurster, Emmert and Engle went 3:38.65.

The eighth-place 200 medley relay of Clyde, Wurster, Emmert and sophomore Gus Dellacqua of Bloomington, Indiana (North) took eighth with a swim of 1:39.94.
