The Hope College men's swimming & diving team won four events during a 195-103 loss at No. 14 Calvin College on Saturday.
Senior Charlie Emmert of Grand Blanc, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic HS), captured the 100- and 200-yard butterfly for the Flying Dutchmen.
Emmert finished the 100 butterfly in 52.62 seconds and the 200 butterfly in 2:00.52.
Senior Mike Wurster of Indianapolis, Indiana (Brebeuf Jesuit) clocked a winning 200 backstroke swim of 1:59.42.
Junior Brian Simonich of Highland, Michigan (Milford), won the 1-meter diving with a score of 266.15 points.
Simonich placed runner-up in 3-meter diving with a score of 272.15.
The Flying Dutchmen finished Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association dual meet competition this season with a 3-2 league record.
Hope now will begin tapering for the February 21-24 MIAA Championships at Calvin.
"I think we knew we were focusing on individual races of the meet," assistant coach Nathan Brown said. "Calvin has a pretty dominant program, but we had some good individual swims from the men. We raced pretty well on the men's side."
