Two Hope College swimmers and one diver have claimed All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association honors for the 2017-18 season from the league's coaches.

Swimmers Daniel Clyde and Charlie Emmert are joined by diver Brian Simonich in receiving All-MIAA recognition. They were among 17 swimmers and three divers chosen.

This is Clyde's and Emmert's second All-MIAA recognition and the first for Simonich.

Clyde, pictured at left, set a school record in the 200-yard individual medley at the MIAA Championships. The sophomore from Ann Arbor, Michigan (Huron HS) clocked a runner-up time of 1 minute, 52.51 seconds.

Clyde also was runner-up in the 400 individual medley with a season-best effort of 4:03.67.

Emmert, pictured middle, recorded a season-best swim at the MIAA Championships in the 200 butterfly and the 500 freestyle. The senior from Grand Blanc, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic) took third in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:53.83 and the 500 freestyle with a swim of 4:39.74.

Clyde and Emmert led off the 200 freestyle relay that finished with a season-best effort of 1:26.20 for a fourth-place effort at the MIAA Championships.

Clyde anchored, while Emmert swam the second leg of the 400 freestyle relay that went a season-best 3:08.38 for third place at the MIAA Championships.

Clyde and Emmert also led off the third-place 800 freestyle relay that went a season-best 6:57.43 at the MIAA Championships.

In the 400 medley relay, Clyde and Emmert swam the middle legs for a group that went a season-best 3:30.64 for fourth place at the MIAA Championships.

Simonich, pictured at right, is All-MIAA for the first time. The junior from Highland, Michigan (Milford) placed third and fourth, respectively, in 1-meter and 3-meter diving with season-best scores of 455.05 and 450.00 points.
