Hope men's lacrosse team poses with the MIAA rgualr-season championship trophy by Alan Babbitt

The Hope College men's lacrosse team wasn't in a sharing mood on Saturday.

The Flying Dutchmen kept the second consecutive Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association regular-season championship all to themselves with a 21-10 Senior Day victory against visiting Kalamazoo College .

Hope (12-3 overall) went undefeated in MIAA play in back-to-back seasons and finished with a 6-0 league record.

The Flying Dutchmen will be the No. 1 seed for next week's league tournament that determines who receives an automatic bid for the NCAA Division III Championship. Hope will host a semifinal on Wednesday, May 1.

Against Kalamazoo, the Flying Dutchmen broke open the game with a seven-goal second quarter that propelled them to an 11-4 halftime lead.

Eight different Hope players scored, including junior attacker Rocco Mularoni of Hartland, Michigan (Detroit Catholic Central HS) with three goals during the first quarters.

Mularoni finished with a game-high five goals. He has a team-leading 35 on the season.

Junior attacker Max Kuiper of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Central) chipped in three goals and a career-high matching five assists. It was the third time this season he's recorded five assists.

Kuiper now has 34 goals and 31 assists on the season. His 31 assists are a career-best in a single season. His 64 career assists are second-most by Gunnar Elder's 105 from 2014-17.

Senior midfielder Gino Battaglia of Dayton, Ohio (Lebanon) contributed three goals and three assists.

Battaglia was one of eight senior honored before the game. He was joined by midfielder Micah Bieri, long-stick midfielder Josh Blackburn, midfielder Matthew Harkema, faceoff specialist Matt Olson, and goalie Nick Schanhals.

Two seniors who did not play also were recognized. Liam Turley missed this season due to injury. Wade Hoag was to play for the Flying Dutchmen before he was paralyzed during a workplace accident the summer prior to his freshman year.

Hope's senior class is 46-18 over four seasons.
