The Hope College men's swimming and diving team's 400-yard medley relay finished 16th at the NCAA Division III Championships on Wednesday in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Freshman Colin Kalkman, junior Jack Muller, sophomore Ben Catton, and freshman Conner Halberg swam a time of 3 minutes, 20.96 seconds during preliminaries.
Kalkman (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian HS) clocked a 100-yard backstroke split of 50.05.
Muller (Queensland, Australia / Meridian State) swam a 100-yard breaststroke time of 57.05.
Catton (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) recorded a 100-yard butterfly split of 48.04.
Halberg (Novi, Michigan / Northville) finished with a 100-yard freestyle time of 48.82 for Hope College.
In the final, the foursome finished 16th as well, clocking a time of 3:21.89.
Kalkman had a split of 50.47, Muller finished his leg with a 57.58 time, Catton clocked in at 48.15, while Halberg anchored the team with a time of 45.69 in the 400-yard medley finals.
Catton also competed in the 100 butterfly. He finished 14th during preliminaries with a time of 48.06 to qualify for the B Finals. During the Finals heat, Catton clocked a time of 48.39 to place 14th at the NCAA Division III Championships.
The four-day NCAA Championships at Indiana University Purdue University at Indianapolis continue on Friday, March 18, with preliminaries at 10 a.m.
