The Hope College men's lacrosse team bounced back from its first loss of the season quickly and decisively.
The Flying Dutchmen soared to a 22-5 victory against Illinois Tech on Tuesday at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
Hope (3-1) recorded a season-high in goals after losing to Oberlin College (Ohio) on Saturday, 12-11, at the University of Michigan Lacrosse Stadium.
Twelve different Flying Dutchmen recorded goals, includiung senior Zach Wiggins (Kalamazoo, Michigan / Mattawan HS) and sophomore Michael Mann (Plymouth, Michigan / Detroit Jesuit), pictured from left.
Mann also chipped in two assists.
Hope jumped to a 7-1 lead during the first quarter. Senior Brian Bera (Rockford, Michigan / Rockford) scored both of his goals during the opening 15 minutes.
Face off get off specialist Cole Scheffler joined in on the early scoring splurge with his first goal of the season and the third of his career. The senior from Rockford, Michigan (Rockford) also helped the Flying Dutchmen win 23 faceoffs.
Hope also received two goals apiece from freshman Merritt Archer of Muskegon, Michigan (Reeths-Puffer), senior Will Cunnington of Phoenix, Arizona (Notre Dame Prep), and senior Jonathan Mann of Plymouth, Michigan (Detroit Jesuit).
Jonathan Mann, who was named MIAA Men's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week on Monday, also recorded two assists.
Hope's next game is Monday, March 14, at 6 p.m. against Siena Heights University at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.
