Swimmer Dallas Fisher and Diver Ewan Tiongson lead Men's Swim/Dive at Chicago

Swimmer Dallas Fisher and diver Ewan Tiongson both posted first-place performances for the Hope College men's swimming and diving team at third-ranked University of Chicago on Saturday.

The 17th-ranked Flying Dutch won two events total as Chicago won the meet, 222-69.

Fisher, a sophomore from Highland, Michigan (Detroit Catholic Central HS), swam a winning 200-yard backstroke of 1 minute, 56.23 seconds.

Tiongson, a junior from Portage, Michigan (Portage Northern), posted a first-place total of 247.85 on the 3-meter board.

Junior Conor East (Farmington Hills, Michigan / North Farmington) placed third in two events.

In the 200 butterfly, East recorded a swim of 1:55.87.

In the 200 individual medley, East clocked a time of 1:58.93.

Senior Bailey Smith (Battle Creek, Michigan / Lakeview) finished third in the 1,000 freestyle with a swim of 10:16.61.

Hope placed third in the 200 medley relay as sophomore Colin Kalkman (Zeeland, Michigan / Holland Christian), sophomore Christian Dunaitis (Commerce Township, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central), junior Ben Catton (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) and sophomore Alex Boersema (Holland, Michigan / West Ottawa) posted a time of 1:35.43.

The Flying Dutchmen's next meet is Friday, Jan. 27, at 6 p.m. at No. 13 Calvin University.
