No. 18-Ranked Men's Swim/Dive Powers Past Olivet and Kalamazoo

The 18th-ranked Hope College men's swimming and diving team cruised to a pair of MIAA victories on Friday in Kalamazoo.

The Flying Dutchmen topped host Kalamazoo College, 162-66, and The University of Olivet, 173-40.

Hope recorded the best performances in 12 different events, including both dives.

Junior Ewan Tiongson (Portage, Michigan / Portage Northern HS) took first on the 1-meter board with a total of 245.55 points and the 3-meter board with a score of 229.73 points.

The Flying Dutchmen posted the top three dives on the 1-meter board. Sophomore Justin Romero (Detroit, Michigan / Woodhaven) took second with 189.9 points. Senior Joey Gillengerten (East Lansing, Michigan / Haslett) was third with 169.65 points.

In the 50 freestyle, freshman Graham Eisenmann (Ozark, Montana / Ozark) clocked a winning swim of 22.21 seconds.

In the 100 freestyle, junior Conner Halberg (Novi, Michigan / Northville) finished first with a time of 48.85 seconds.

In the 200 freestyle, Hope went 1-2-3: Halberg in first at 1:46.49, freshman Andrew Repp (Plymouth, Michigan / Salem) in second at 1:46.93 and junior Joel Cummins (Osceola, Indiana / Penn) in third at 1:50.48.

In the 500 freestyle, freshman Alex Pierce (Oswego, Illinois / Oswego) posted a winning effort of 4:54.05.

In the 1,000 freestyle, senior Bailey Smith (Battle Creek, Michigan / Lakeview) recorded a first-place time of 10:15.69.

In the 100 butterfly, senior Conor East (Farmington Hills, Michigan / North Farmington) led a 1-2-3 Flying Dutchmen finish with a swim of 53.00 seconds.

Eisenmann placed second at 53.58. Repp was third at 53.88.

In the 100 backstroke, junior Dallas Fisher (Highland, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) clocked a winning performance of 53.73 seconds.

In the 100 breaststroke, senior C.J. Gillengerten (Haslett, Michigan / Haslett) placed first at 1:01.72.

In the 200 individual medley, freshman Nick Suranyi (Novi, Michigan / Novi) touched the wall first by posting a swim of 2:01.14.

In the 200 medley relay, Hope won as senior Ben Catton (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian), junior Christian Dunaitis (Commerce Township, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central), junior Colin Kalkman (Zeeland, Michigan / Holland Christian) and Cummins recorded a winning effort of 1:36.48.
