Luke Newcomb has been selected the MIAA Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week for the first time in his career.
The freshman from Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS) is honored after excelling at the D3 Shootout over the weekend, a meet featuring eight of the top 25 teams in the country with schools representing nine different states.
Newcomb's 100-yard breaststroke of 55.95 seconds is currently the top time in the MIAA.
Despite finishing third in the event at the D3 Shootout, Newcomb's time currently ranks sixth in the nation.
