Men's Swim Advances to Day 2 Finals in Three Events at NCAA Championships

Hope College qualified for the Day 2 finals in three men's events at the NCAA Division III Championships on Thursday in Greensboro, N.C.: the 100-yard butterfly, the 200 freestyle relay and the 400 medley relay.

In the 100 butterfly, senior Ben Catton (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian HS) will swim in the consolation final.

Catton clocked the 11th-fastest prelim time of 47.86 seconds.

In the 200 freestyle relay, Hope will compete in the consolation final.

Catton, junior Colin Kalkman (Zeeland, Michigan / Holland Christian), freshman Graham Eisenmann (Ozark, Missouri / Ozark) and freshman Christian Hoeksema (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) took 12th during prelims with a swim of 1:21.73.

In the 400 medley relay, the Flying Dutch will race in the consolation final.

Kalkman, junior Christian Dunaitis (Commerce Township, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central), Catton and Eisenmann finished 14th during prelims with a time of 3:17.78.

Tonight's finals begin at 6 p.m. and can be seen on ncaa.com.
