Men's Swimmers Post Two All-America Performances at NCAA Championships

Hope College swam to All-America honors in two men's events during Day 1 of the NCAA Division III Championships on Wednesday in Greensboro, N.C.

The 200 medley relay of junior Colin Kalkman (Zeeland, Michigan / Holland Christian HS), junior Christian Dunaitis of (Commerce Township / Detroit Catholic Central), senior Ben Catton (Holland, Michigan / Holland Christian) and freshman Graham Eisenmann (Ozark, Missouri / Ozark) clocked a 12th-place swim of 1 minute, 29.01 seconds during the evening's consolation final.


The relay claimed All-America Second Team honors.

In the 50 freestyle, Catton finished 14th by clocking a time of 20.25 seconds during the consolation final.

Catton also earned All-America Second Team honors.

On Thursday, Hope will compete in three events during Day 2, which begins at 10 a.m. with prelims.

First up is Catton in the 100 butterfly, where he is seeded sixth with a qualifying swim of 47.44 seconds.

The 200 freestyle relay is next for the Flying Dutchmen. The relay is seeded 15th with a qualifying time of 1:20.95.

Hope closes with the 200 medley relay, which is seeded 14th with a qualifying swim of 3:16.44.

The top 16 swims in each event advance to the 6 p.m. finals.
