Four Men's Swimmers Named to College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Teams

Four Hope College swimmers have been selected for the 2024-25 Academic All-District® Men's Swimming and Diving Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators: seniors Joel Cummins, Christian Dunaitis and Colin Kalkman, and sophomore Graham Eisenmann.

The program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes men's swimming and diving honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Cummins (Osceola, Indiana / Penn HS) is an exercise science major who qualified for the championship finals in three races at February's MIAA Championships, placing seventh in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100 butterfly, and eighth in the 100 freestyle.

At the league meet, Cummins clocked a personal-best swim in the 50 butterfly timed trials (22.76 seconds) and season-best swims in two more events.

Dunaitis (Commerce Township, Michigan / Detroit Catholic Central) is a business major who claimed an MIAA title in the 200 breaststroke in February after placing runner-up the three previous seasons.

In the 100 breaststroke, Dunaitis finished second for the second consecutive season after winning the event in 2022 and 2023. He posted personal-best swims at the MIAA Championships in the 50 breaststroke (25.67) and the 200 breaststroke (2:05.39) and season-best times in five more events, including the 100 breaststroke (55.10).

Kalkman (Zeeland, Michigan / Holland Christian) is a biology major who claimed Second Team All-America accolades in three events at the NCAA Division III Championships in March: 100 backstroke, 200 freestyle relay and 400 medley relay. In the 100 backstroke, Kalkman finished 11th in the nation.

At the MIAA Championships, Kalkman placed runner-up in three events: 100 backstroke, 100 butterfly and 200 backstroke.

Kalkman clocked two personal-best swims at the NCAA Championships — 100 backstroke (47.99) and 200 backstroke (1:48.41) — and set five school records this season.

Eisenmann (Ozark, Missouri / Ozark) is a mathematics major who earned Second Team All-America honors in the 400 medley relay at the NCAA Championships after swimming the butterfly leg.

A three-time finalist at the MIAA Championships, Eisenmann finished third in the 50 freestyle (20.53) and fourth in the 100 freestyle (44.00) and the 100 butterfly (49.20).
