Colin Kalkman Named to Academic All-America® Swimming and Diving Teams Selected by College Sports Communicators

The biology major is one of 12 first-team honorees and 30 total recipients

Hope College swimmer Colin Kalkman flourishes in the classroom and the pool.

The 4.0 student and decorated athlete has been named to the 2024-25 Academic All-America® men's swimming and diving teams as selected by College Sports Communicators.

Kalkman (Zeeland, Michigan / Holland Christian HS) is one of 12 first-team selections and 30 overall.

The senior is the second Flying Dutchmen swimmer to receive Academic All-America® recognition, joining Jeffrey Bannink (1992-93).

College Sports Communicators is a 4,400-plus member national association for strategic, creative and digital communicators across intercollegiate athletics in the United States and Canada. The organization was known as the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) from its founding in 1957 until a 2022 name change.

The Division III Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division III national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division III Academic All-America® program. 

In March, Kalkman earned All-America Second Team honors in four events at the 2025 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships. He finished 11th in the 100-yard backstroke, 12th in the 200 freestyle and 400 medley relays, and 14th in the 800 freestyle relay.

In February, Kalkman claimed All-MIAA honors for the fourth time.
