The Hope College men's swimming and diving team is projected to contend for an MIAA championship during the 2025-26 season.
The Flying Dutchmen received two first-place votes and finished runner-up in the inaugural MIAA Preseason Coaches Poll with eight points.
Defending champion Calvin University topped the rankings with four first-place votes and six points. Kalamazoo College placed third with 15 points, followed by Albion College and Alma College with 18 points apiece, and the University of Olivet with 25 points.
Head coach
Jake Taber enters his eighth season leading the Orange and Blue. The Flying Dutchmen open the season on Friday, Sept. 26, at 3 p.m. at the Be Better Invitational, hosted by the University of Michigan.
Hope returns a deep and balanced lineup, including sophomore
Joe Engle (Holland, Michigan/West Ottawa), who emerged as a distance standout last season. He won both the 500-yard freestyle (4:32.53) and 1,650 freestyle (16:07.72) at the 2025 MIAA Championships.
Sophomore
Luke Newcomb (Brighton, Michigan/Brighton) set Hope and MIAA records in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 54.45 seconds.
Junior
Alex Pierce (Oswego, Illinois/Oswego) claimed the MIAA 400 individual medley title in 4:03.14.
