With the outcome hinging on one final race, Daniel Clyde, Charlie Emmert, Joseph Watson, and Mike Wurster delivered for the Hope College men's swimming & diving team.
The Flying Dutchmen topped Kalamazoo 122-121 on Saturday at Kresge Natatorium after a first-place performance in the 400-yard freestyle relay.
Clyde, Emmert, Watson, and Wurster clocked a time of 3 minutes, 15.69 seconds that was seven seconds faster than Kalamazoo's second-place relay.

Hope recorded winning efforts in seven events.
Emmert, a senior from Grand Blanc, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic HS), took first in the 100 butterfly in a season-best 52.38 seconds and the 200 freestyle in 1:47.63.
Clyde, a sophomore from Ann Arbor, Michigan (Huron), won the 100 freestyle in 49.40 seconds and the 200 individual medley in 1:59.17.
Junior Brian Simonich of Highland, Michigan (Milford) finished first in both 1- and 3-meter diving. He scored a season-high 270.75 points on the 3-meter board and a season-best 247.80 points on the 1-meter board.
Senior Kevin Franz of Mundelein, Illinois (Mundelein) also scored 247.80 points on the 1-meter board to tie for first place.
Junior Jeff Engle of Kalamazoo, Michigan (Home School) was runner-up in the 500 freestyle at 5:07.46 and the 1,000 freestyle at a season-best 10:40.51.
Wurster, a senior from Indianapolis, Indiana (Brebeuf Jesuit) came in second in the 100 backstroke at 54.56.
